Northerners will be able to access the latest news and community information from a new website next month. CKPGToday.ca will be going live online soon. The news portion of the website will be managed through the award winning CKPG News team, the largest electronic newsroom in northern BC. The website will offer the latest weather, community events and even classified ads. All content will available at no charge.

Styx guitarist James Young considered aerospace engineering as his fallback plan. Young says he has a degree in aerospace engineering because he was avoiding the Vietnam draft and he promised his dad he wouldn’t pursue music until he was done with college. Now Styx has released an album called “The Mission” about a trip to Mars. Young says it’s actually singer Tommy Shaw‘s idea. He said that if he had suggested it, everyone would think he can only come up with space ideas. But he says he did convince former singer Dennis DeYoung to turn the ship in “Come Sail Away” into a spaceship at the end.
Cheap Trick is coming out with a holiday album October 20th. One of the songs started out as a joke on Saturday Night Live. They’re putting their own spin on it but the song, “I Wish It Was Christmas Today,” was written by Jimmy Fallon and Horatio Sanz. They’ll also do their versions of “Father Christmas” by The Kinks, “Merry Xmas Everybody” by Slade and “Merry Christmas (I Don’t Want To Fight Tonight)” by The Ramones. Cheap Trick also wrote three new holiday songs for the album, which is called “Christmas Christmas.”
Robert Plant is touring North America next year to support his next album “Carry Fire.” The tour starts Feb. 9. One of the dates is in Toronto. The album is out Oct. 13.
