Breaking news this morning…Cabbage Patch look-a-like rocker Phil Collins had to cancel his concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall tonight and tomorrow. He tripped over a chair in his hotel room and needed stitches over his eye. Now he looks like a Cabbage Patch doll Mom had to repair after the dog got a hold of it. But seriously that must hurt.
Liam Gallagher slammed his brother Noel Gallagher for not performing at the “One Love Manchester” benefit, but he was even in the lineup and a bunch of artists and organizers are defending him including Coldplay’s Chris Martin who thanked Noel him for allowing his band to perform Oasis songs. He said Noel not only gave his blessing for us to use his songs, but also told us that he was donating his royalties from ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ to the fund. Let’s keep the positivity please. It was 30 years ago this summer Def Leppard’s album Hysteria was released and they’re celebrating with a reissue of the album August 4th. There are lots of format choices including; a single-disc remaster to a seven-disc box stuffed with bonus material. The box set has B-sides, radio edits and remixes, an audio version of the band’s “In the Round, In Your Face” concert film, four books etc etc. You can pre-order them HERE.
One of the faces from The Beatles‘ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” album cover is for sale. Auction house Paddle 8 is selling the cardboard cutout of child actor Bobby Breen, signed by cover artist Peter Blake. Blake’s face appears on the album between George Harrison and Marlene Dietrich. The starting bid is $48,000.
Queen guitarist Brian May has revealed exactly what’s in the Queen version of Monopoly with an unboxing of the game on Facebook Live. The tokens are May’s guitar, a “News of the World” robot, a “Hammer to Fall” hammer, a vacuum cleaner from the “Break Free” video, a radio for “Radio Gaga” and what May modestly describes as “a lady on a bike.” Houses are staging blocks, and hotels are a full stage that sits on the blocks. The properties are concert halls, with the cheapest one being Imperial College, where Queen did an early gig. The most expensive is Wembley Stadium. The railroads are now hit records and utilities are lighting and sound production. May points out that the game also “smells very good.” It goes on sale June 23.
When former Three Dog Night singer Chuck Negron hits the stage this summer, he’ll have an oxygen tank, but it will be pretty well hidden. He’s had lung and heart issues and his doctor told him to use the oxygen. Negron turns 75 today and he says go ahead make the ‘Old Man’ jokes, he’ll use the good ones onstage. He’s a part of the Happy Together tour that starts tomorrow in Mississippi.

Bassist Verdine White and drummer Ralph Johnson of Earth, Wind and Fire have a rule during their concerts these days: “don’t look at me.” During the tribute to Maurice White, Verdine White says he can’t look at Johnson or at the tribute, because they would fall apart. Maurice White died last year. Earth, Wind and Fire and Chic featuring Nile Rodgers will tour together beginning July 12 in Oakland, California.
BBC Radio 2’s Live Hyde Park summer festival in London is scheduled September 10th and some of the acts announced so far include; Shania Twain, Take That, Stereophonics, James Blunt, Emeli Sandé, Blondie and Rick Astley.
