The members of Chicago were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, and now they’ve been chosen for yet another honor. The band’s main songwriters Robert Lamm, James Pankow and Peter Cetera, who are responsible for 33 Top 40 hits, have just been voted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Some other inductees include; Jay-Z, he’s the first rapper ever chosen for the Songwriters Hall of Fame. And the guy who wrote 22 number one hits by Britney Spears’ and the Backstreet Boys’ Max Martin.
Mowtown’s Berry Gordy will also be honored this year, after differing his induction last year. The ceremony for this years Hall of Fame Awards is June 15th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
David Bowie was honored twice last night at the 2017 Brit Awards. Bowie won Best British Male Solo Artist and “Blackstar” won Best British Album. Bowie’s son, director Duncan Jones, accepted the awards. He made a poignant speech about what he’d like his son to know about his grandfather and said “It would be the thing that most of his fans have taken over the last 50 years. He’s always been there supporting people who think they are a little bit weird or a little bit strange, a little bit different. He’s always been there for them,” Duncan said. “This award is for all the kooks, and all the people that make the kooks.”
Eddie Van Halen has donated 75 guitars to public schools. They’re his own guitars, not just some cheap stuff he found online. Eddie says he loved music as a kid and wants to pass it on. He said “It has to be taught, music is such a necessity” The donation was made through the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation.

Bruce Springsteen has done it again. He’s invited another kid on stage to play in his band. This time it was an 11 year old kid in Christchurch New Zealand. Bruce saw Hayley Dockrill‘s sign saying “I can resist Trump, but I can’t resist Max,” so he called her up to play the drums with drummer Max Weinberg on “Dancing In the Dark.” I’m beginning to think he’s just getting kids to do his work for him. Hayley seemed pretty happy and left with an autographed drum stick. Check out the video.
