Once again Schools in District 57 are under Code Red and Code Yellow. Here’s what was posted on the School District 57 website this morning.
October 7, 2016
9:20 a.m.
In continuing dialogue with RCMP, Senior Administration was advised to hold and secure all Secondary Schools located in Prince George. Information leading to this decision was coming to officials as most staff and students were either on their way to school or having just arrived.
Secondary Prince George Schools were called to move into a Code Red response. This was determined to be the most effective way to quickly ensure safety of students and staff.
At approximately 9:10 a.m. the effected schools were advised that they could move into a Code Yellow response.
Code Yellow requires students to be in classrooms with closed doors. Outside doors are locked. Staff monitor exits with only supervised entrance and exit of students and parents as is necessary.
School District No. 57 (Prince George) is in direct communication with RCMP.
Updated information will appear on our website as it becomes available.
Safety of students and staff remains our first priority.
Continued appreciation to staff, students and community for cooperation and support during this process.
Marilyn Marquis-Forster,
Superintendent of Schools
