Gord Downie is still working hard even though he’s living with terminal brain cancer. As we mentioned last week he’s putting out a solo album, a book and an animated movie The three projects combine under the title “A Secret Path.” It’s based on the tragic 50 year old story of a boy who fled a residential school and died. The book and album come out October 18th and the proceeds will help fund the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation at the University of Manitoba. The film will air on TV October 23rd. Some cool concerts hit Vancouver in the final months of the year.
- LiveNation.com will open the ticket wicket for Stevie Nicks and the Pretenders “24 KARAT GOLD TOUR .” They’ll play Rogers Arena in Vancouver Friday ,December 9th.
- The Spend The Night With Alice Cooper plays the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver Wednesday, October 19th.
- And Chicago & Earth Wind and Fire’s Heart and Soul tour hits Rogers arena, Monday ,November 7 th .
Guns ‘N Roses “Not In This Lifetime…Tour” made $116.8-Million as of the end of August. Enough to take the sting out of any animosity. They’re still at it this year with a stint in Latin America, Asia and Australia. For a list of the dates, CLICK HERE.
Dierks Bentley, Keith Urban, and Little Big Town did on a cover of David Bowie’s “Heroes,” for this year’s “Stand Up To Cancer” benefit. Check it out.
And if you ever go exploring in the Nevada desert, you may get a little David Bowie on ya. Apparently Bowie’s godchilc scattered some of his ashes on the grounds of the Burning Man Festival with a small ceremony.
In the ‘Damn we Missed it! category….Jeff Lynne re-assembled ELO this weekend, with a full freakin orchestra! He called it Jeff Lynne’s ELO. And he played an 18-song including “Evil Woman,” “Cant’ Get It Out Of My Head,” “Shine A Little Love,” “Mr. Blue Sky.” But in the “Hey there’s a Chance” category he’s doing 2 nights at Radio City Music Hall in New York on September 16th and 18th.
And….Richie Sambora told the Australian media, there could be a reunion in the future, but now isn’t the time. (Look how vI took an entire 4 paragraph story then broke it down into one line. Then took two lines to brag about it.)
