Bruce Springsteen’s show at Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater originally set for Saturday, was pushed back to last night. And the Foxborough board of selectmen did decide to extend the curfew at Massachusetts’ Gillette Stadium by 15 minutes, from 11:15pm to 11:30pm to allow for Springsteens longer shows. He’ll play there September 14th. His shows have been pushing 4 hours on his latest tour.
Last week on the show we talked about Lars Ulrich saying Metallica has another hundred years of touring left in them if their knees hold out. They begin that hundred years in October. Their new album “Hardwired…To Self Destruct” is out November 18th. On their website they say… “To kick it all off we’re returning to five cities we know will absolutely rock hard with all kinds of crazy Metalli-love and get this tour started right!” “First up we travel to Latin America with stops in Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Colombia, Guatemala and Costa Rica.”
Will Oasis get back together? The director of the Oasis documentary, “Supersonic,” is staying positive. Matt Whitecross says Noel Gallagher told him there are plenty of people out there, including celebs, that want a reunion to happen. Gallager says every week he gets advice from Coldplay’s Chris Martin on how to patch things up. Freddie Mercury had an asteroid named after him on the weekend. So now he really is, as he sang ‘I’m a shooting star leaping through the sky.’ He got the honour on what would have been his 70th birthday at a party at Montreux Casino in Switzerland. Here’s Brian May announcing the news.
Guitarist Wendy Melvoin of The Revolution opened a Prince tribute concert in Minneapolis last week with the words, “Take every one of these songs and make them your own.” Melvoin and bassist Mark Brown handled vocals for the first part of the show before bringing out singer Bilal. Guitarist Dez Dickerson wore his trademark Japan flag headband, and keyboardist Dr Fink wore scrubs. Apollonia, Prince’s family members and his two ex-wives attended.
Melissa Etheridge will moderate a panel about athletes, injuries and marijuana at the Cannabis World Congress and Business Exposition. Etheridge will be the moderator for a discussion called “C-T-E, Concussion and C-B-D” on Thursday at the convention in Los Angeles. Etheridge, who is a cancer survivor, says she will lead the panel because she believes in the medicinal applications of cannabis. Former N-F-L and N-H-L players will be part of the panel.
