Jimi Hendrix‘s short-lived Band of Gypsys made their debut on New Year’s Eve 1969 and now, we can all relieve the gig. “Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69” documents the first show of four the band, which included Hendrix, Billy Cox, and Buddy Miles, played over two days at New York City’s The Fillmore. This marks the first time the Band of Gypsys debut gig has been available in its entirety. Fans will be able to buy “Machine Gun” on CD, 2-LP vinyl, and digitally on September 30th, but you can preorder it now. As if that weren’t enough, Hendrix’s estate is also releasing “People, Hell & Angels” on the same day. That collection is of previously unreleased studio recordings including studio versions of many of the songs featured on “Machine Gun: The Fillmore East First Show 12/31/69.”
Ozzy Osbourne‘s marriage might be back on track but he still has some legal woes to deal with. His former songwriting partner, Bob Daisley, is suing Ozzy for unpaid royalties. The track in question is the iconic “Crazy Train,” which Daisley has a songwriting credit on. Now, he says the Black Sabbath rocker owes him $2-million for it. Daisley’s lawsuit addresses that he’s been paid some of what he’s owed since the song was released in 1980, but a 2014 audit shows that Osbourne and his company have been cheating him. “While Mr. Osbourne was benefiting from the songs co-authored by our client, the audit shows that he was systematically short-changing Mr. Daisley,” Daisley’s lawyer Alan Howard explains. “Mr. Daisley had no choice but to bring this action to secure his fair share of the proceeds those songs have generated.”

They were no Jack and Diane. Christie Brinkley and John Mellencamp have called it quits after a year of dating. “Both the mileage between their homes and their heavy career demands interfered with their ability to maintain the relationship,” a rep says. “They vowed to remain best of friends.” The split shouldn’t cause too many heartbreaks, though. Brinkley spoke about her relationship with the rocker back in June and even she said they were having fun more than searching for soul mates. “You never really know what’s going to happen,” she told People when asked if they were heading for marriage. “John and I are two people that have very full lives. We’re just trying to enjoy each other when we can see each other and try not to put too much [pressure] on it.”
