Starbucks is helping Pearl Jam raise money to fight homelessness in Seattle. The band is set to perform two “Home Shows” at Safeco Field next week, which they are using to shine a light on the city’s homelessness problem. Well, now Starbucks is doing what they can to encourage their customers to join the cause. The company is asking their consumers to donate to the band’s Home Fund fundraising campaign, and the Starbucks Foundation will then match every dollar donated through their app or on Pearl Jam’s website, two-to-one. “Starbucks has been an important partner in the Home Shows project, leading the charge in helping to shelter families,” guitarist Stone Gossard shares. “I applaud the steps they have taken in this area and I look forward to seeing what they do next. Graham Nash has released a new animated video for the Crosby, Stills & Nash classic “Teach Your Children,” as a way to celebrate protest movements of both 1968 and 2018. The video features illustrations of protests from the 60s, including civil rights and anti-war protests, combined with images from more current protests, including Parkland student Emma Gonzalez at March For Our Lives, Black Lives Matter protests and the March For Women. Graham is set to head out on a fall tour, which kicks off September 19^th in Austin, Texas and wraps October 17^th in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Rush frontman Geddy Lee is releasing a book about bass guitars later this year exploring the instrument’s history and sharing the stories behind his own. “Geddy Lee’s Big Beautiful Book Of Bass” is due for release on December 4th. The 400-page book will showcase Lee’s impressive collection of vintage basses, some dating back to the 1950s, with commentary by the bass aficionado as well as photos. “It’s not surprising that sooner or later I’d dive down the proverbial rabbit hole into the world of vintage bass guitars,” notes Lee, who has collected hundreds from around world. Fans who bought tickets for the this year’s Austin City Limits festival can finally start making plans for their long weekend. The annual Austin festival, set for October 5^th to 7^th and 12^th to 14^th, just announced their full daily lineup. Paul McCartney is set to headline opening night and the following Friday, October 12^th, while Metallica will headline both Saturday bills, and Childish Gambino will close things out on both Sundays. Other artists on the bill include The National, Odesza, Camila Cabello (October 7^th only), Shawn Mendes (October 14^th only), David Byrne, Greta Van Fleet, Travis Scott, Father John Misty, Brandi Carlile, Bazzi, The Breeders, Janelle Monae, and more.
