So Mike Benny and I went outside this morning (-28c) and I recorded Mike throwing a cup of hot water into the air, then a cup of cold. Most of the hot water froze before it hit the ground but the cold water dropped like a rock. In order to freeze, the hot water has to cool and at one point it will be the same temp as the cold, so why does the hot freeze in the air and the cold doesn’t. Or is it just the vapor from the hot water that’s freezing? What’s going on here!?
