The Eagles 40th anniversary release of “Hotel California” is out November 24th. They have revealed another live track that’s going to be on the album. It’s a live version of “New Kid In Town” recorded from back in 1976 Eagles at a concert at The Forum in Los Angeles. That concert was just before they released the album “Hotel California.” The 40th anniversary edition includes 9 other remastered and live versions of songs off the original album. Bob Geldof and U2 stood up for Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi (ahng sahn soo chee) during her years as a political prisoner. Now they want her to stand up for her own people. Geldof returned his Freedom of the City of Dublin honour yesterday because he says Suu Kyi is “a killer” for not stopping the violence against Rohingya (ROH’-hihn-jah) Muslims in Myanmar. A U2 statement says that the violence on her watch against the Rohingya people “blows our minds and breaks our hearts.” They say her silence “is starting to look a lot like assent.” More than 600-thousand members of the Muslim minority have fled Myanmar to Bangladesh since August after security forces attacked their villages.
Jeff Lynne‘s E-L-O will tour the U-S for the first time in more than 35 years. Lynne says in a statement their audiences are amazing and “it’s like they’re in the group.” The tour begins Aug. 2nd in Oakland, California with the one Canadian date in Toronto on August 18th. On Friday, Lynne will release the concert C-D and D-V-D, “Wembley or Bust,” recorded at London’s Wembley Stadium in June.
The musician formerly known as Cat Stevens will celebrate 50 years as a musician with a P-B-S special. Yusuf, as he goes by now, will play his hits like “Moonshadow,” ”Wild World,“ ”Father and Son“ and ”Peace Train.“ He’ll discuss his songwriting process, his fame and his life-changing experiences as well. ”A Cat’s Attic: Yusuf/Cat Stevens“ will premiere on P-B-S stations in December. Yusuf’s latest album is called ”The Laughing Apple.“
