The biggest perk of having a rock star for a dad? After you learn your first song on drums, you get to perform it in front of 20-thousand people. Dave Grohl‘s eight-year-old daughter Harper asked her dad to teach her to play drums and he obliged. He also offered to let her show off her skills on the kit during Foo Fighters‘ set at Iceland’s Summer Solstice Festival. She took him up on it and played the only song she knows so far: Queen‘s “We Will Rock You.” Aside from Harper’s debut, Foo Fighters’ performance also included a new song, “Lah Di Da” and the first full live renditions of “Run” and “The Sky is a Neighborhood.” Check them
Bruce Springsteen will kick do an eight-week run of shows (5 shows a week) in New York City this fall. Apparently he wants to play a smaller venue so he’ll do a shorter version of his touring show at the Walter Kerr Theatre on Broadway. Clic the pic for the full story from the New York Post
Paul McCartney is now one better than a knight. Queen Elizabeth II just elevated the singer’s knighthood, giving him Companion of Honour award for services to music. “I’m very happy about this huge honor,” Sir Paul says, “and with the news coming on my birthday weekend and Father’s Day it makes it colossal!” “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling also received the Companion honor this year, with both artists joining previous honorees Stephen Hawking, Ian McKellen and Judi Dench.
And Gord Downie and Ontario indigenous activist Sylvia Maracle are to be appointed to the Order of Canada today. Maracle will be named an officer of the Order, while the Tragically Hip frontman will be named a member. Terminally ill with brain cancer, Downie has become a strong advocate for indigenous people and issues.
Bob Seger fans can finally stream his music online. The legendary rocker ‘s catalog made its streaming debut on Friday, and is now available on sites like iHeartRadio, Spotify, Apple Music and more. All in all, twelve platinum/multi-platinum albums as well as Seger’s debut, “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man” are now available online. In addition, ten records have been made available for digital download for the very first time.
