Rush is getting the Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit Award next year. They also get to pick a charity for the $40,000 that comes with the award. They’re giving it to the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research.
Some controversy over fan voting portion for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Probably more of a confusion watching the votes tally up. The Hall of fame says they had held back on adding hundreds of thousands of votes until they could verify them then they added them all at the same time. Last week; Journey, Electric Light Orchestra, The Cars, Yes and Pearl Jam were leading the voting. Then after they released another few hundred thousand votes all at once….those bands are still leading. The deadline for fan voting has been extended 10 days to December 15th.
You can’t lure Bob Dylan to show up by giving him an award. He’s not going to Sweden to get his Nobel Prize and he didn’t show up for the ceremony Barack Obama was hosting at the White House for all the Americans who won Nobel Prizes. Try telling him he won the Powerball and see if he shows up.
What would you guess is Prince’s worth? If you base it on the amount the trust company is charging you might be able to form an educated guess. That’s what the Associated Press has done and those big smartheads are guessing about 200 million. They even checked their estimation with other estate law professionals and they agreed it was a pretty good guess. But who cares about the money. The vault is full of tunes. Show me the MUSIC!
