Metallica has announced a new album, “Hardwired…To Self Destruct,” and released a new single, “Hardwired.” So what’s next? Touring, of course! Lars Ulrich is reporting the band is gearing up for a massive tour, which is just what they’re used it. “We did 180 shows on the ‘Death Magnetic’ tour in two-week periods over three years,” Ulrich explains. “That’s what works for us. We’re going to start pretty much full-on touring in January and are looking to figure out what we’re doing in North America, but there will definitely be some pretty extensive touring in America.” As for what fans can expect if they make it out to a show, it’ll be a mix of classic Metallica and the band’s new album. “It’s gonna be a lot of fun to play this. Also, some of these songs are a little shorter than the ones on ‘Death Magnetic,'” the drummer adds. “I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun to throw many of these songs in, but we’ll change the setlist every night like we always do.” We’ll keep you posted on Metallica’s tour dates, but in the meantime you can pick up “Hardwired…To Self Destruct” on November 18th.
Veteran hockey player Darryl Sittler, actor/director Jason Priestley and rocker Corey Hart are among the celebs being honoured with stars on Canada’s Walk of Fame this year. Sittler played in the NHL from 1970 to 1985 for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Philadelphia Flyers and Detroit Red Wings. Priestley is known for “Beverly Hills, 90210,” “Call Me Fitz” and “Tombstone” while Hart, who recorded “Sunglasses at Night” and “Never Surrender,” has sold more than 16 million records worldwide.
The new season of Dan Rather’s ‘The Big Interview” will kick off with an interview with Neil Young. Among the topics discussed in the September 13th premiere are Young’s childhood, including his battle with polio, his new album “Earth” and his days with Crosby, Still, Nash & Young. Future episodes of “The Big Interview” will feature Meat Loaf (September 20th) Martina McBride (September 27th), Olivia Newton-John (October 4th) and Michael Buble (October. 11th ). “The Big Interview with Dan Rather” airs at 8 pm ET on AXS TV
The Moody Blues will once again hit the water for their fifth annual Moody Blues Cruise, taking place January 2nd to 7th, with stops in Grand Cayman and Cozumel. We already know that Green Day’s upcoming album is going to be dubbed, “Revolution Radio,” and that there was going to have a political message. But now, Bille Joe Armstrong reveals that the album’s title track was inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement and their protests in New York. “I was in a car coming from Brooklyn to Manhattan and there was these protesters for Ferguson holding up traffic all the way back across the bridge,” he says. “I got to where I was staying at and I could see on 8th avenue there was all the protesters out there and I was just looking out and I wrote about it the day after.” The frontman goes on to say that it was “a trip to watch people just completely rebel against the old order or whatever you want to call it and get to something that’s more pure.” To Armstrong, it was a “controlled chaos” that was happening across the country. People don’t want to feel obsolete.” “Revolution Radio” is set to arrive in stores on October 7th.
Pearl Jam wrapped their two-night stand at Chicago’s Wrigley Field with a good friend and special guest joining them on stage. While performing the 1996 B-side, “Black, Red, Yellow,” written about former Chicago Bulls player Dennis Rodman, Rodman walked out on stage to perform his spoken word section of the song. Vedder than got up on his monitor to be at equal height to Rodman, before jumping into the basketball player’s arms. Pearl Jam’s final night at Wrigley was the last night of their 2016 tour. They ended the tour with a whopping 35-song set list, including covers of Cheap Trick’s “Surrender,” The Beatles’ “I’ve Got A Feeling,” and Neil Young’s Rockin’ In The Free World. Check out the video
Liam Gallagher isn’t exactly popular, and that’s fine with him. Instead, he’d rather spend time with his girlfriend and manager, Debbie Gwyther. “I can count my friends on no hands,” he says. “I don’t have any apart from Debbie. I do my own thing. I’m a lone wolf.” Gallagher goes on to praise his boo, crediting her for “saving him.” “Debbie swooped me up as I was falling,” Gallagher adds. “She just said, ‘Stop being a d**khead.’ She got me out of the house, introduced me to all kinds of people outside my world, got me doing new things. I’ve lived in London a long time, but I only really knew Hampstead. She took me to new places.”

Of course, because this is a Gallagher boy being interviewed, Oasis was brought up and by the sounds of it, Liam’s open to a reunion. “I believe Oasis will sail again and it’ll be glorious,” he says. “If it’s really about the fans, Noel, let’s do it – because they want it. One year. Tour for a year. We’d smash it. My bags are still packed from my last tour, so I’m ready.” He did fit a shot in at his brother, though, saying he has “small man syndrome,” because “every f**king soundcheck he’d stand in the middle and sing.” And just like that, a reunion gets further away.
