Great news for Peter Gabriel fans – you can enjoy the total concert experience as soon as next month! That’s when a treasure trove of his live material will be repackaged/released for DVD, Blu-ray and digital formats. Gabriel’s “Still Growing Up Live & Unwrapped” will be reissued as a two-DVD set, while “Growing Up Live + Still Growing Up Live & Unwrapped” will arrive for the first time ever as a Blu-ray/DVD set with the previously unreleased “Growing Up On Tour: A Family Portrait.” Both sets, due on September 16th, feature performances from the early ’00s. “Growing Up Live & Unwrapped + Still Growing Up Live” is available for pre-order at Amazon; “Still Growing Up Live & Unwrapped” can be pre-ordered right now.
It looks like Bob Dylan doesn’t want to come home. The icon is adding a new batch of fall dates to his aptly titled, “Never Ending Tour.” These 27 shows follow Dylan’s two appearances at the Desert Trip festival on October 7th and 14th.
Coldplay‘s Chris Martin was feeling his surroundings when he delivered an intimate solo version of Bruce Springsteen‘s “Streets of Philadelphia” during a concert in – where else – Philadelphia. The singer softly sang the Oscar-winning ballad – from 1993 film drama, “Philadelphia,” – as part of the acoustic portion of his set while fans cheered him on. Check out the video.
A healthy share of Pink Floyd memorabilia will be featured in an upcoming exhibition titled “You Say You Want A Revolution: Records And Rebels 1966-70″ at the Victoria And Albert museum in London. The exhibition launches on September 10th, and it will also feature a range of items from the era. A statement from the museum reads: “This major exhibition will explore the era-defining significance and impact of the late 1960s, expressed through some of the greatest music and performances of the 20th century alongside fashion, film, design and political activism.”
The song “The Girl From Ipanema” has had a massive jump in streaming since Gisele Bundchen strutted to it in the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Spotify says the song was streamed more than 40-thousand times a day after Friday’s ceremony. It usually streams about three-thousand times a day.
Some of the relatives of the one-hundred people killed in the 2003 nightclub fire during a Great White concert are angry to learn the site is a stop for the game “Pokemon Go.” The site of The Station nightclub in West Warwick, Rhode Island, is surrounded by a fence while a memorial is being built. Family members and friends of those who died also are upset that the game incorrectly says the fire killed two-hundred people. However, Dave Kane, the father of 18-year-old victim Nicholas O’Neill, says he’s O-K with the Pokestop because it could help spread the word on what happened there. A request for comment from game developer Niantic was not returned. The fire had started during Great White’s first song when pyrotechnics sparked the soundproofing foam around the stage.
The granddaughter of Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider just could not wait to get here. The daughter of Snider’s son Jesse and his wife, Patty, was born in a car on the 405 freeway near Los Angeles Sunday. Jesse Snider posted an Instagram video shortly after the birth of Parker Pryde Snider and notes, “We waited a little too long to leave.” Mother and baby are healthy. Dee Snider tweets, “Way to get attention!”
Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart are continuing their odd friendship with a new show for V-H-1. Stewart describes “Martha and Snoop’s Dinner Party” as a redesign of the traditional food competition show in a new, very funny way. Snoop says he and his “homegirl” Stewart have a special bond that goes way back and they plan to have a good time with their friends. The show premieres this fall.
A federal judge is denying nearly 800-thousand dollars in legal fees for Led Zeppelin. A jury found Jimmy Page and Robert Plant didn’t violate a copyright in creating the intro riff to “Stairway to Heaven.” But the judge has ruled the suit against the band wasn’t frivolous and they’re not entitled to recover their legal costs.
