Mick Jagger told a concert crowd in Havana on Friday, “We are sure that this night is going to be an unforgettable night, for you and for us.” It was the first time the Rolling Stones had played in Cuba, and the biggest-name act ever to play in Cuba. Rock and roll was forbidden for decades in Cuba under Fidel Castro’s rule. The Stones ripped through a two-hour set that started with “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and ended with “Satisfaction.” One 62-year-old Cuban man said after seeing the Rolling Stones, he can die happy. It wasn’t just ordinary Cubans at the show. Jimmy Buffett, Richard Gere and Naomi Campbell were in the V-I-P section.
Why would Guns N’ Roses release a list of North American cities if they were not intending to tour? G-N-R has put out a video listing 21 cities with the song “Patience” playing over it and the words “Coming Summer 2016.” G-N-R featuring Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan are playing a handful of shows this spring, including Coachella next month.
Rob Zombie’s latest horror film has finally gotten a release date. His movie “31” will come out September 16th. The film is about carnival workers who are kidnapped by sadistic clowns and are forced to play a violent game. Zombie’s latest album, “The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser,” comes out April 29th.
Tom Petty has reunited once again with his early seventies band, Mudcrutch. The original band released two singles in the seventies that went nowhere, and Petty then went on to form the Heartbreakers with several members of the group.
But in 2008 the group, made up of Petty, Mike Campbell, Tom Leadon, Benmont Tench, Ryan Ulyate, and Randall Marsh, got together to release their first official album “Mudcrutch” which did fairly well, and now they’re getting ready to release another one.
The album, titled “2,” will drop on May 20th, with the band hitting the road on May 26th for a 16-day tour to support it. The trek kicks off in Denver, Colorado, and wraps June 28th in Santa Ana, California
Music fans in Seattle got quite a treat when Bruce Springsteen’s “The River” rolled into Key Arena. The Boss brought out a special guest to join him for the “Born in the U.S.A.” tune “Bobby Jean,” a “hometown boy” by the name of Eddie Vedder.
This, of course, isn’t the first time the Pearl Jam frontman has joined Bruce on stage In 2004 during the “Vote for Change” tour they shared the stage in East Rutherford, New Jersey for “No Surrender” and Pearl Jam’s “Betterman,” in 2012 Eddie came out at Chicago’s Wrigley Field for “Darkness on the Edge of Town, “Atlantic City” and “My Hometown,” and in Australia in 2014, Eddie joined Bruce for AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell.” Check out video of their latest duet
Two of rock’s great female voices are hitting the road together. Pat Benatar, with husband Neil Giraldo, and Melissa Etheridge will hit the road this summer on a co-headlining tour.
The trek kicks off July 6th at the Beacon Theater in New York City, and wraps August 27th in Airway Heights, Washington.
