Peter Frampton and Lynyrd Skynyrd are joining forces for a summer tour that kicks off June 3rd in Albany, New York. So far, only a dozen dates have been announced, with the tour set to wrap August 21st in Murphys, California, although more shows are expected to be added. Click here for ticket on sale information.
Jeff Beck is hitting the road this summer and one show will have a very special meaning. His tour kicks off on July 19th in Port Chester, New York and wraps up in Los Angeles on August 10th. Buddy Guy is on board to co-headline most of the tour. That last “very special” date in LA will honor Beck’s “50 years of dynamic music-making.” We’ll keep you posted on any more details about that gig. As we already told you, Emerson, Lake & Palmer keyboardist Keith Emerson died last week of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, and now the Los Angeles coroner has officially ruled his death a suicide. The coroner confirmed the cause of death was a gunshot from a .38 revolver. According to Ed Winter, spokesman for the county Medical Examiner’s Office, the autopsy also showed that Emerson suffered from heart disease and depression.
Michael Jackson’s stake in a massive music catalogue has been sold to Sony for 750 million dollars. Sony and Jackson’s estate announced the sale in a joint press release yesterday. Jackson’s estate owned a half share of the catalogue, which includes The Beatles and Bob Dylan. But the sale doesn’t transfer to Sony ownership of Jackson’s master recordings or rights to the songs he wrote.
