Dear Mr. Polillo,
My name is Hannu Asikainen. I am 50 years old and my education is Master of Engineering (civil engineering). I work at the City of Helsinki, Economic and Planning Center as Project Director of Kalasatama (=Fish Harbor) urban development project (http://en.uuttahelsinkia.fi/kalasatama). I live in Espoo, about 10 miles west of Helsinki, with my wife Anu, who is 43 years old civil engineer (M’Sc). Anu works at VR Track limited as development manager.
I am writing to inform you that I had the pleasure of listening to your station on the frequency of 1240 AM on the 29th of October 2014 at 7.09 – 7.15am Pacific daylight saving time. You might wonder why I write to you, because you are a radio station which services a local audience. I think you might be interested in knowing that it is sometimes (when the radio/atmosphere conditions are favorable) possible to listen to your station in the other part of the world, even if the reception time can be short. I am a radio enthusiastic and I am very interested in other countries, their people, culture etc. I collect letters and cards of radio stations.
My other “hobby” is traveling. I have visited to 60 countries. In Canada I have been in Vancouver and Yukon. We made cruise from Vancouver to Alaska in May 2010 and visited to the Southern part of Yukon too. I also enjoy exercise. I play basketball and golf. In winter, if there is snow here in Southern Finland, I like to ski (cross-country). Once a year I go to Lapland and ski over 1150 kilometers there during one week.
Once a year I spent 1 week in Lemmenjoki, Lapland, middle of nowhere about 200 miles north of Arctic Circle. I try to pick up radio stations there especially from USA. My receiver is a communication receiver JRC NRD-535D. I had 4 long wire antennas there, each about 3000 feet long. I use to be there with my good friend and thousands of reindeers. I haven’t seen the Santa or Rudolph, but I have seen hundreds of Rudolph’s friends.

Finland is situated in Scandinavia, North Europe, between Sweden and Russia. The nearness of the Russia isn’t a good thing right now, because of an aggressiveness of the President Putin in Ukraine. Finland is a member of European Union, which is a really good thing right now. We are not alone. The climate in Finland varies very much. The maximum temperature on summer is normally just below 90 degrees Fahrenheit and minimum temperature in the Northern part of Finland on winter can be even 60 degrees below 0 Fahrenheit. Normally temperature in summertime varies from 60 to 80 degrees in South Finland.
Espoo, my home town, is the second biggest city in Finland. There are about 250.000 inhabitants here. Espoo is situated in the South Finland. It is the neighboring city of Helsinki, which is the capital of Finland. There are 5.400.000 people in Finland. Finland is famous for educational system, sauna, Sibelius (composer) Linux Thorvalds (the creator of Linux operating system), architects and Angry Birds figures and games (by Rovio). Did you know that The Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri and the Dulles International Airport terminal in Washington D.C. were designed by Finnish architect Eero Saarinen.
